Toontubers
Cartoon Network
Brasil and LATAM
Toontubers was a cross-media project created by Vivian Arias and Camila Ferreira at Cartoon Network Brasil at the end of 2016. Although focused on YouTube, the series quickly gained a place on the TV schedule of Cartoon Network Brazil and LATAM. Made with a mixture of gameplay footage, which was recorded and played by the two creators, and the voices and personalities of the characters Rigby and Mordecai, from Just a Show, Toontubers had everything to succeed.
When I joined the project in October 2016, our mission was clear: to turn this still amateurish experience into a hit, with editorial refinement that was crude but at the same time fun and organic. In the beginning, we were just three people, working hard to edit and create all the artwork, memes and motions that tied the episodes together
With increasingly positive results, our team grew and I took over as project supervisor, as well as being one of the people responsible for playing and recording the gameplays and directing the voices of the BR and LATAM voice actors.
From 2018 I also started writing the scripts for the episodes. I wrote more than 30 episodes, creating and tying together all the lore of the Toontubers universe, feeding the community with theories that are still alive to this day.
In 2020, I left the de project to work with Netflix, but Toontubers lasted until 2022, reaching the milestone of 114 episodes and more than 700 million views on YouTube. This does not include the Spanish adaptations for LATAM, which were also released on YouTube. It was so successful that Toontubers became the most watched show in all Cartoon Network LATAM.
